Roos Wrap August 11

Roos Wrap up
It was great to head back to Des Penman Reserve and get some beautiful weather as opposed to the pouring rain we had there a few weeks ago.  Funnily enough in the pouring rain we managed 1 on the bench and with the bright sunshine on the weekend we had enough for 5 on the bench!!   Rossmoyne were short so we needed a volunteer to step up and play for them……..enter Neil Hooper.  It just so happens that Neil was up until 3.30 in the morning drinking Coopers and red wine trying to convince a couple of out of towners to play for the Mighty Roos and such is his willingness for the cause he was also happy to continue doing the team thing and help the opposition on game day.  When he joined Rossmoyne’s team huddle they may questioned our generosity as I am sure that the fumes emanating from Neil may have actually put his nearest new teammates over the limit!
Even though we were missing Fatty and Dick Della, and with Q missing his first game for the year, we still managed to field one of our strongest sides for the year.  It showed with the boys getting on top early and managing to run away with game with the end result being……. a well earned draw!!!
Highlights include;

  • Vinnie kicking the wrong way
  • Arnies sublime rucktaps
  • Millsy showing his ability to kick both left and right foot
  • Moogs inspiring 3 quarter time speech yet again
  • Macca finally having enough on the bench to show his ingenious magnet moving skills in Robs absence
  • Claty kicking a ripping goal after missing a sitter a moment earlier
  • Arnie and Courtz both giving me the nod and tapping it straight to where they wanted me to be, only to see me on the move and nowhere near where they wanted me to be!
  • BBQ showing that when he plays for the opposition he still has no idea where he is supposed to be

And for the the best moment of the day……Courtz got through the whole match without pulling a Hammy!!!

Get up to training as there is only 2 games to go and try to get up to Mundaring this week as the Hawks take on Mundaring in a top of the table clash!
